My hairstylist said something that kinda threw me off guard one day — she said to me, “You have the hair of a teenager!”
My initial reaction was like ??????????????? Is this true? What does that even mean!? Is she angling for extra tips?!?! Hmm….. lol
Anyway, I wasn’t sure what to make of that. I know my hair has been growing out stronger lately, especially the more burdens I unload through the inner work that I’ve been doing, so that much I’ve definitely noticed. Also, especially because I started taking probiotics and ended up switching to one that is specifically targeted towards women’s health, I think the probiotic has been working quite well at helping me absorb nutrients from my diet and supplements better. So maybe that’s somehow impacted my hair growth?
So anyway, after I washed my hair and dried it recently, I noticed I had a butt ton of baby hairs just floating up towards the sky lol. I was like oh…………. ๐ค …………… I think my hair stylist wasn’t joking around! I think she legit shared what she had observed and I was glad to come to that same realization.
She also squeezed my face out of excitement that day when she commented about my hair and I was like ๐ฎ!? What’s going on? lol
Anyway, I’ve always heard that our gut is our “second brain” and that there’s a real connection between our gut health and how our mind and body function overall. I didn’t realize how important the connection was though. Especially as an autistic person, the poor gut health was wrecking me in ways I didn’t even realize. So much anxiety. It just always felt like an uphill battle and I’d keep getting sick and my immune system just was not very good at all. However, that seems to be changing now with the changes that I’ve made…
When I didn’t take good care of my gut health, I remember feeling like I was constantly fighting inflammation. I always felt a bit off, like I was low key experiencing tiny fevers here and there. I remember feeling so weak often and everything I ate seemed to give me digestion issues. Also, no matter what supplements I took, they didn’t seem to help much. I guess that’s why I stopped taking them for a while since it didn’t seem like they were working anyway. But after I introduced a proper probiotic into my daily regimen, things seemed to change a lot. Like, my body is finally getting what it needs when it’s not constantly fighting bad gut bacteria. I’m so glad I decided to give probiotics another try and to switch until I found one that works well for me. It’s a major gamechanger for me!
I feel extremely happy with the continued positive changes that I’ve been making to my life. From all of the inner/shadow work to the changes in health and wellness and other things, it just feels like I’m rebuilding my foundation properly this time around. If my improved gut can grow teenager hair on my head, who knows what else it’s been holding back? Maybe I’ll grow a third arm? I’m going to put it to good use though!!! Really looking forward to what’s on the horizon because these positive changes are helping me feel more hopeful.
