Yeeeeee happy mother’s day!!!
Figured I could dedicate a post to my lovely mom. My mom and I are basically two peas in a pod. I’d say I got a LOT of my personality from her. I definitely inherited her growth mindset and empathy, which I am forever grateful for. She’s the one who taught me to think outside of the box. Thank goodness lol.
She tried her best to teach me well, but like I had mentioned before, I wasn’t always the best student. I usually was a bit of a troll actually lol.
Mom: What do you do when you see people lining up to jump off of a bridge?
Young me: Go and see why it’s so lit?
Mom: No… you don’t follow them……
Sigh, my poor mother. I probably gave her tons of heart attacks. She used to tell me stories of all the mischievous stuff that I did and tried to get away with. Apparently, one time I grabbed a stool, climbed up to the kitchen counter, cut a banana, climbed back down, put the stool away, and never said a word. She only found out when she picked up the banana and it fell into pieces. She figured out it was me as I was the only one home with her at the time lol. Man, young me was just worried she’d have to cut the banana herself. Mama needs potassium. I was just caring for my mama the best way I could, cutting one banana at a time ๐ค
Despite being their tiny troll, my parents tried their best to support me however possible.
Another thing that’s pretty rad about my mom (parents, actually) is that art isn’t exactly an “acceptable” path for most asian children. But my parents allowed me to pursue my interests, investing in art and technology, and I guess that’s how I was able to keep learning and growing in those areas. I’m grateful that my parents were open minded enough to allow me to follow my passions and not force me down a path that they thought would be right for me. I know my mom had a lot to do with that and I’m *genuinely* grateful ๐
I’m also glad that I had developed a new relationship with piano playing. I know my mom enjoys listening to me play so when I am able to, I like to play for her whenever she visits. Okay I’m making myself sound better than I am. I’m lazy so it doesn’t happen often but when it does, I enjoy it. It’s the thought that counts okay ๐ญ
I think my parents were always very confused by me. I definitely was not the typical child. Oh btw, I was born a lefty and that’s usually a big no no in asian culture. But I guess maybe by the time they got to me they were just too exhausted to care? I’m actually ambidextrous though — while I started off as a lefty, I eventually taught myself to write and draw with my right hand. Oddly enough, I draw better with my left hand and I write better with my right hand lol. I’m glad my parents didn’t force me to choose one or the other. Why not just be both? ๐คฃ
Maybe that’s why I’m so unhinged — my mom legit supported it lol. OMG I’m pretty sure I inherited the unhinged from her too! Blame her if you don’t like it! Jk. Don’t you dare. I love my mom so much. No one gets my mama, she’s MINE!!!!! ๐ค
OMG also let me just say that she’s the best Duolingo partner ever. It’s always like: “You did 3 lessons and your mother did 90 lessons, so you met your weekly goal!” or whatever that friend challenge is lol. Mom’s the carry lmao. I love that my mom is so studious!!!
ANNDDDDD speaking of mom taking care of me, her gourmet food is soooooooo delicious it always gives me the front booty ๐ญ
ANDDDDDD she actually enjoys reading my writing and had asked for me to have AI translate them for her but I’m so lazy I keep forgetting to do it ๐ญ okay mom I’ll translate this one for you ๐คฃ
Sigh. I can keep going on and on but the lazy is kicking in so I must end this post.
Anyways, Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mamas and don’t forget about the Suga Mamas toooooo. Love yall!!! โค๏ธ
