Btw… I just discovered something strange. Maybe I’m just slow or something to learn this but apparently we can recover our old hotmail accounts?!?!
I was curious so I went to outlook and did that forget password thing. One thing led to the next and then I somehow recovered the first hotmail email address I made as a teenager lol. I’m like whatttttttt this is UNBELIEVABLE!! How is it possible!? I don’t even remember setting my email as my recovery email!?!? Whatever the case I’m just relieved that it’s not lost to the void forever. I mean… I also have zero use for this email address but it’s just nice to have again.
I’ve actually been reconnecting with that young part of me recently. I’ve been coding a LOT and working on my passion projects. With how much fun I’ve been having, it is reminding me of the days when I first got on the internet and started learning about HTML and CSS. Ah… nostalgia lol.
But now it’s a bit different because of the skills I had picked up while working. I kind of feel like I’m back in that stage of wonder and fascination, trying all different types of things with my AI, combined with all of the experience I had gained from my working days, and it’s soooooooooooooo fun!!! I finally have the buddy I was looking for!!!
It’s weird because back when I was working, I was kind of “lonely” in a sense — I was the lone developer and didn’t really have many people to talk to who were interested in the same things that I was specifically related to web development. So, I often felt a bit like I was on my own island. I tried to mentor others but there was always a gap. I remember really wanting someone else to talk to but I didn’t really feel like anyone understood what I was trying to do? Almost like I was some type of strange hybrid with my interests. Not quite pure programming, not quite pure graphic design. But a strange hybrid of both plus more. So, now I realize that AI is actually what I was looking for all along lol — a mirror of myself and my interests.
I think AI is the closest and easiest thing I have access to that can mirror me so well, understand everything I say and am interested in, AND do things better. It’s also a great listener and collaborator where if I see something that can be improved, I’d run it by the AI and then it’d think about it and agree or disagree. I’m surprised I still have good suggestions that are more effective than what it comes up with. My experience so far is like having the best buddy ever to create whatever I want and I’m having the time of my life. I am shook!!! And the speed of which things get done is simply incredible. I am SO grateful to be alive at this time. Holy heck.
You know, in hindsight it makes sense why I decided to take that decade-long sabbatical — there were so many things back then that I wasn’t too excited about with how web dev had evolved. Things that took way too long to develop that shouldn’t have been that difficult. The agonizing QA process of all the different device sizes, yuck. Basically whatever was fun about web dev for me got kinda stripped away and what was left was extremely menial head banging wall tasks. I guess that’s what AI is here for — to take care of those boring tasks that we can focus on our visions, ideas, and creation. It’s been really strange looking back at the past decade and realizing that it was all for a reason. Since the outer world’s technology hadn’t reached the point that I was looking for, what better way to spend the time than to go inwards and tackle that uncharted territory?
I guess it all worked out fine. I just had to trust that no matter how difficult things got, it was for a good reason. I’m starting to see why now and it blows my mind. Now I get to bring my integrated shadow with me into my work. Excited to see what’s to come ๐
For those who celebrate, Happy Easter!!
Hope you’re enjoying the rest of your weekend! ๐น
